On March 20, 2014, on her first trip outside of Minsk just one month after arrival in the country, Public Affairs Officer Robin Solomon traveled to Vitebsk, Belarus’ northernmost regional city.  Speaking at the international conference “Dialogue on Languages and Cultures in the Twenty-First Century” before the audience of over 200 students, city officials, diplomats and educators, Solomon underscored the importance of language-learning, especially by the young people, backing up her message with a donation of English teaching materials, equipment and Embassy logo tote-bags to the host, Vitebsk Gymnasium #2.  Robin Solomon also discussed ways of future cooperation with the Vitebsk Central City Public Library and Vitebsk Info USA, presenting the latter with a collection of English books and DVDs. Together with the director of the local Chagall Museum Robin Solomon reviewed the historical facilities associated with the painter of world renown and supported at different periods by the U.S. Embassy.
